You can expect to receive great communication and critical thinking as part of your coaching services however one athlete’s coaching process may look entirely different to someone else’s..

Athlete 1

Athlete 1 is returning to training from a long-term injury. The coaching process involves very gradually building up training stimulus with the aim of returning to previous performance levels. There may be one discipline that allows greater training intensity or a technical component of the race that can be focused on when overall training stimulus is limited.

Athlete 2

Athlete 2 has built training stimulus gradually with no injury concerns and has now exhausted available training time in the week. After each training block profiling tests have been conducted to estimate the athletes physiological parameters and key targets are identified within the training for the next block. Training is altered by intensity distribution to cater for the aims. Training progress translates to race progress and the coaching process focusses on finding small improvements to continue to develop performance.

Athlete 3

Athlete 3 has improved in profiling and consistently exceeds targets in training sessions, however these improvements don’t seem to translate to race performance. The focus of the coaching is to maintain training improvement and to understand better the limitations on race day. This can some sometimes be attributed to technique, psychological factors or deterioration in performance under fatigue.

Key components

  • Training programme delivered on Training Peaks
  • Race planning and feedback
  • Profiling and racing database
  • Periodized planning through the season
  • General advice on sport science topics
  • S&C: We provide strength and conditioning sessions on Training Peaks. Which are developed by a Strength and Conditioning coach called Peter Gascoigne who we have worked with since 2018. These sessions are designed to avoid injury and maximise athletes training time. The content is based off injury incidences we have encountered in the past, physio feedback and swim/bike/run biomechanics.

Coaching services

There are two coaching services offered which are distinguished by the level of coach interaction. On the plus service the coach checks into the athletes Training Peaks each weekday and on the standard service each week. The standard service may therefore work for an athlete who requires less coach feedback.

Plus individual coaching service: £210 per calendar month.

Standard individual coaching service: £160 per calendar month.
